The little things

So, my preperation for overseas continues..
And now, I'm realising..it's the little things that are really big things in your life and the whole fact that I know I'm going overseas, for no matter how long that shall be, has made me realise the many things I appeciate in my life right now.
Thinking this is about to get teary eyed and sentimental?...well, I'm sorry. It might. But I'll try my best to not get too emotional!
From the busses I catch with screaming children, to a live possum running into my living room. These are the moments.
From performing on stage, and falling off the stage, to locking myself out of my unit, and to walking the streets of West End or Southbank after a show. These are the moments.
From realising you can't pay rent this week to the time you win $2 lotto. These are the moments.
I'm about to leave a suburb I love to live in, friends I love to see, and theatres I have got ot know intimately....to the unknown, into London, into other parts of the UK and Beyond. Belgium and France too. It will be scary. New moments will be created. It's exciting and sickening, all at once! But more so exciting!

So, not matter how much I complain about litle things that happen right now, when sometimes thigns don't go my way...I know that actually right now are some of the best moments of my life. I can't take them for granted. Knowing that I'm leaving so many things and people I love behind, if only for a relativley short time,  is very sobering indeed.
So, remember, the little moments are what count. Just like reading this blog...hehehe

It's starting

Hello there,

Welcome to my blog. My first blog.

So, why start now? I hear you say. Well, this year, starting 1st June, I'm travelling to the UK and beyond. I'm going mostly for the purpose of study. I've been accepted into the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London to study Shakespeare over their summer. I'm from Australia, so quite a big journey for study, but it's worth it and will be amazing!

While over there, I will also be be taking part in an Internship with a company called High Tide Theatre Company. I met the Artisitc diector while he was in Australia, gave them a yell about my plans in London and they happily excepted me to take part in a bespoke internship with them while I'm there. I'm very excited!

So, what can you expect? Well, firtly, I'm going to be recording this blog every few days- I'll be updating you what's happening in the course, who I'm meeting, what arts programs and classes I'll be taking in and what theatre I'll be seeing. I'll be making comparisons with what I've learnt here in Australia, and my thoughts on new processes I find. I'll be letting you in on my educational and emotional experiences while there.

I've been lucky enough to receive a grant from Arts Queensland here (thankyou!) who have offered me a Career Development grant to make this all happen. Presently, I'm still waiting on two more grants to know what will be totally possible. Basically, one of the other two grants will help pay the rest of tuition. I can't wait to know what's going to happen and just to be able to lock it all in.

How are preperations going? Well (I keep saying that), firstly, it's my first really big trip overseas by myself. That's challengeing no matter where you are going! Secondly, because I am still unaware of grant outcomes until the end of this month/ mid May, I am in the dark until then about what's possible, which means I can only plan so much. Hopefully when I find out more answers, either yes or no, things can just keep moving forward at a much faster pace. Not long to go now... I'm very excited but also a little scared! :-o

So let me take you on a little journey....while I'm there I'll also be taking video footage, interviews and photos of things I'm doing.

I'm also linking this on my Facebook page so all can see what I get up to and any funding bodies can keep up with what I'm doing.

Looking forward to sharing my journey's with you!
